The ZT series of digital video recorders offers high quality real time recording of both video and audio, in addition to a realtime live display. Realtime recording greatly enhances the playback quality, and unlike many systems on sale ensures you will not miss even the smallest event.
Real time recording
The ZT range of digital video recorders offers high quality real time recording of both video and audio, in addition to a realtime live display. Realtime recording greatly enhances the playback quality, and unlike many systems on sale ensures you will not miss even the smallest event.
Record for up to a year in real time
Recording real time video and audio in high quality requires a substantial amount of storage. The ZT range can be fitted with up to 22 TB (22,000GB) of hard disc capacity. This allows up to one year of continuous real time video to be stored, the equivalent of 2920 three hour VHS tapes.
Picture quality
The ZT range uses MPEG-4 compression to store video on to a hard drive, the same method that SKY use for their satellite transmissions. The ZT range can record high quality video at a similar quality you would expect from a normal DVD.
Automatic backup
Every ZT digital video recorder has a sophisticated backup option that can make a duplicate copy of recorded video and audio to allocated hard drives. The backup system can be used in one of two ways:
- All recordings are automatically copied to the backup drive.
- Only important events e.g. motion detection are copied to the backup drive, saving space and storage cost.
Intelligent monitoring
Built into every ZT is a range of monitoring sensors that constantly check the performance of the system and will warn you of any problems before they can cause a fault. Amongst the sensors is a built in thermometer that monitors the system temperature and the performance of the hard drives. If the temperature starts to rise to a level that could cause a problem, the system will display a warning message.
Hard drive quality
Using the right hard drives is fundamental to the long term performance of the system. Most hard drives are designed for use in a home or office computer where they will only be used for 30% of the time. The drives fitted in every ZT are designed for industrial use and are intended to be used 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Find the evidence
Searching for the video you need is easy with the ZT, there is a 20,000 entry event log and several methods of searching.
- You can search by time and date down to the nearest second
- Search hourly blocks of video
- You can also search by event type eg: only alarms on channel 1
Make a copy
The ZT offers three options for making a copy of recorded video and audio. You can copy to a CD-R/DVR-R using the built in DVD writer or alternatively to a memory stick or external hard drive. It is also possible to copy video and audio from the DVR without the need to stop recording.
Secure the copy
You can protect copies of your video by using a customised PIN number, preventing unauthorised playback of copied video and audio. The PIN number has to be used every time copied video is replayed.
Simple playback
Playing a copy is simple. You can play back recorded video on the ZT or alternatively on a computer. Every time a copy is made, the playback software required is also copied. Playback will automatically start when you place the CD in a computer running windows. There is no software to install, or settings to change.
See and hear
Using a fast ADSL connection you can view high quality video and audio at speeds approaching real time. Once you are connected to the ZT there are many functions available.
- You can view live video and hear live audio
- You can play back recorded video and audio
- Use search functions to find recorded video
- Copy video and audio across the network to your computer
- Control pan, tilt & zoom cameras
- Print high quality still images to any Windows printer
- Convert copied video to an AVI file
Speak
The ZT has a “talk back” facility that allows two way communications with the site. There is also a relay built in to the ZT that can be controlled from the remote computer. Amongst other things, this can be used to control lighting at the site and when coupled with the ability to “talk back”, makes a very powerful tool.
On site operation
The ZT can be operated on site in one of four ways:
- From the keypad on the main unit
- From the infrared remote control
- From a remote keyboard fitted up to 500m away (supplied separately)
- From a computer via an internal network
Each method of operation will give complete control of the system and will operate all of the functions including playback and engineer programming together with control of pan, tilt & zoom cameras.
Off site operation
The system can be operated off site via the internet. This gives complete control using a “virtual keypad” that mimics the keypad on the main unit. This allows you to perform any function as though you were stood by the unit. Off site operation requires a password, which can be set at different levels to restrict access to various functions.
The administrator password will allow access to all engineer programming options to change system settings without the need for a site visit. User passwords can be set and customised to disable or allow features of the DVR.
Off site alert
The ZT can be programmed to send an e-mail to up to 10 addresses, if either an alarm or motion detection has been triggered.
Multi site monitoring
The ZT multi site remote software can be used to connect to up to 16 sites simultaneously and provide full monitoring and off site operation.
Flexible recording
The ZT has an almost infinite range of recording possibilities with an advanced schedule system and the ability for every channel to be programmed at a different frame rate and resolution. Utilising the built in sophisticated motion detection software the ZT can also be programmed to record at low frame rates until motion is detected, at which point it will automatically step up the frame rate. This allows the ZT to be tailored to suit every installation.
Simultaneous operation
To put is simply the ZT will carry out all operations simultaneously without interrupting recording.
- Record video and audio
- Playback recorded video and audio
- Copy video and audio to CD, DVD, memory stick or external HDD
- Copy video and audio to a backup hard drive
- View live video and audio over a network
- Play back recorded video and audio over a network
- Allow engineer programming
Monitor options
The ZT has the ability to connect to standard CCTV monitors and computer LCD monitors. There is also a separate “spot” monitor that operates independently. Both the main monitor and spot monitor may be programmed to display any combination of images, thus giving the ZT an extremely flexible display system.
The administrator password will allow access to all engineer programming options to change system settings without the need for a site visit. User passwords can be set and customised to disable or allow features of the DVR.
